Darius Garland Shares Personal Moment Behind 30-Point Season Opener
One special moment fueled the big night.
Minutes before Wednesday's season opener against the Sacramento Kings, LA Clippers guard Darius Garland grabbed a microphone and addressed fans from the midcourt logo.
"Clipper Nation," he yelled out. "We've been working hard all summer. We're ready to really turn up this year and play at the highest level. Really appreciate the support. From my teammates, coaching staff, organization, we really appreciate everyone who comes out and supports. We're gonna be here all year. Let's go."
He followed that message with a 30-point performance that carried LA to a 121-96 victory. Of those points, 16 came in the first quarter when Garland made all three of his 3-point attempts, including one that became a particularly meaningful moment for him.
